Lightroom culling alternative

Culling is the slowest part of Lightroom. Skip to the shortlist.

If your workflow starts in Lightroom, culling means opening every frame, flagging, rejecting, and comparing by hand. On a big shoot that is hours of work before editing even starts.

Pictage is a separate first step: upload the full shoot, and it analyzes every photo (sharpness, exposure, closed eyes, near-duplicates) and builds a first selection at the count you choose. Review that shortlist, then bring the keepers into your normal edit.

What changes and what doesn't

Changes: the first pass is automated. You review a selection instead of the whole shoot.
Doesn't change: the final selection is yours, frame by frame.

An honest fit check

Good fit: high-volume shoots (weddings, events, sports) where the first pass is mostly mechanical.
Still yours: small curated sessions where every frame gets individual attention anyway.
